ABOUT ME

Thanks for stopping by! I’m so glad you’re here.

Alittle bit about my journey…

My path to Instructional Design has been an unconventional one, but it’s provided me with a robust and nuanced understanding of learner needs which I’ve drawn from a wide range of experiences and contexts.

My early background in theater provided me with a deep appreciation for the power and potential of storytelling and an understanding of how to engage and hold the attention of an audience. My experience teaching writing and rhetoric further expanded my expertise in audience needs analysis and effective and purposeful communication.

With a Master’s degree in English Education and ten years of college-level teaching experience, I have a strong foundation in research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices. My approach to instruction has always been adaptable, learner-centric, and collaborative.

In addition to my work as an instructor, for five years, I served as a Learning Specialist at Colorado State University, where I facilitated in-person and online (both synchronous and asynchronous) trainings for first and second year graduate students who were tasked with teaching writing to college undergraduates. In this role, I served as a year-long advisor, supervisor, and mentor in instructional methods.

As a Learning Specialist, I was involved in the recurrent development, creation, and evaluation of the writing curriculum for first year college students, a curriculum that was adopted and implemented by graduate students, along with incoming contingent faculty. This work provided me with a deep and nuanced understanding of course development, learner experience design, and assessment practices, as processes that stem from regular evaluative procedures and extensive needs analysis.

More recently, I’m working to complete my training as a Certified Professional in Training and Performance from IDOL Academy where I’ve been able to apply my experience in learning design and my passion for storytelling to new and exciting contexts, gaining skills in graphic design, e-learning development, and generative AI.

Through IDOL, while working with clients in the private sector, I’ve gained valuable experience with content creation tools such as Genially, Canva, Vyond, and Camtasia, as well as e-learning authoring tools such as Lectora and Storyline.
